The landmark of London will stay during the next month silent, because of the maintenance workings. It will be the first time since 1956 that both sonorous hourly bongs and the chimes that mark each quarter-hour will be silent.
During the workings the clock will work with help of backup electric system.
As for me, if they use that backup electric system, they could record the sound of Big Ben and play it at the right moment
